Back when I was a #supplychainmanager I used to spend my early summers working 10 - 12 hours per day trying to work out how we were going to get through the winter which was our peak period of seasonal demand.

We needed to build stock starting in July if we were to stand any chance of doing this. Endless spreadsheets were created in an attempt to work out what we would need to build. And then of course there was the task of cascading the demand for raw materials and packaging - from a plan which only existed outside the ERP system.

There was little time for thinking of summer vacations or hobbies.

And then #velocplanning was created. Now we could create numerous detailed capacity fit scenarios in minutes

AND

automatically cascade each one through the Bill of Materials to see what that meant in terms of raw material supply.

💥 With the latest release of Veloc we can even apply multiple constraints to the optimisation algorithm - so for example manufacturing capacity and storage space or supply constraints of key raw materials.

Just last week we had a new potential client who, still today, was suffering the same issues - 20 years on.

These days I spend my early, middle and late summers relaxing in exotic places with my saxophone.....

What about you? Do you still struggle with Seasonality planning - let me know in comments.
